Studio School

March 10 - 11, 2012
Saturday 1:30 to 5 p.m.
Sunday 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

In this two-day Studio School workshop we will explore the fundamentals of nuno felting. The primary focus of this course will be learning to felt a scarf.

Nuno felting is a wet felting technique that involves layering silk fabric and merino wool to create a light, airy scarf. Students will learn how to embellish their scarf with colorful silk material, yarns, bamboo and hemp.

All participants will take part in the process of nuno felting which involves wetting the fibers with warm soapy water and agitating the piece by rolling and rubbing. The excitement occurs when the fibers are completely felted and you can admire the final piece for the first time. The results are always surprising!

Bring several old towels. All other materials are provided.
